Held on a monthly basis, Africa Beyond the Headlines is a virtual webinar event hosted by the Harvard Center for African Studies that seeks to explore and understand contemporaneous themes and issues in Africa. The hour-long panel discussion is hosted by a Harvard faculty moderator and seeks to include panelists representing academia, civil society, government, philanthropy, and the private sector. Each webinar will seek to situate the discussion in a regional, global, and historical context as well as explore underlying context not always evident in headline news reporting. Our aim is for the audience to come away with a deeper understanding of the narratives that do not always find their way into international reporting and begin a series of conversations across health, technology, economy, and the arts, among others.
