Dr. Paul Farmer Awarded Rwanda’s National Order of Outstanding Friendship (Igihango), by Rwandan President Paul Kagame

Saturday, September 1st, 2019, Dr. Paul Farmer, Faculty Affiliate at the Harvard Center for African Studies, was awarded Rwanda's highest honor, the National Order of Outstanding Friendship (Igihango) by the Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Igihango is awarded to distinguished individuals who performed specific outstanding acts in promoting friendship and cooperation between Rwanda and other countries, as well as acts that promoted the dignity and honor of the Rwandan people and the country, on the international scene.

President Kagame expressed the gratitude of Rwanda for Dr. Farmer's work: "Kagame's family is your family. This is to acknowledge and recognize you for the special work you have done with us in many ways - Universal Health Coverage, making sure our people, without exception, have access to good and high quality health service."
