The Harvard African Students Society
About
The Harvard African Students Society (AfriSoc), sponsored by the Harvard Center for African Studies, was created in 2024 by students who wished bring Africans together across Harvard. Students felt siloed within their individual programs, and they wanted to create a bridge between Harvard's 12 professional schools and Harvard College. Especially for students in smaller degree programs, where no formal African student group may exist, AfriSoc offers a much-needed community. AfriSoc also serves as an alliance amongst the Africa-related student organizations at Harvard to strengthen community and collaboration.
What We Do
The Harvard Africa Students Society brings together students of African descent and allies interested in Africa. We organize events that celebrate culture, foster academic and professional development, and create platforms for dialogue on Africa’s progress. We also partner with Harvard’s Center for African Studies and other student groups to expand opportunities and build a united African community on campus.
