The Harvard University Center for African Studies (CAS) presents a webinar aiming to dive deep into the causes and implications of African coups. Join us on Wednesday, October 25th, from 10am-11:30am ET, as we explore the nuances often overlooked by mainstream international reporting. Over recent years, West and Central Africa have witnessed a surge in military coups, with events unfolding in Niger and Gabon among the latest. This sudden rise speaks to a myriad of underlying issues ranging from political and economic struggles, and regional politics, to geopolitics and neocolonial politics. Our esteemed panelists will delve into the complexities of the current political climate, sharing their expertise on various aspects of the topic.
