Prof. Daisaku Higashi, Professor at Sophia University in Tokyo. Prof. Higashi is a leading scholar on mediation and peacebuilding in Japan and published multiple books on ending the War in Ukraine and peacebuilding in South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Iraq, including, “How Can We End the War in Ukraine?” (Iwanami 2023), “Inclusivity in Mediation and Peacebuilding” (Edward Elgar 2022).

Prof. Serhii Plokhii, Mykhailo S. Hrushevs’kyi Professor of Ukrainian History, Department of History and Director of the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University. He recently published the book, “The Russo-Ukrainian War: The Return of History” (W.W. Norton 2023). “The Origins and Possible Outcomes of the Russo-Ukrainian War”

Dr. Wakiko Ohira, Postdoctoral Fellow, Harvard University Center for African Studies. Her PhD. dissertation is “Institutional Transformation of Traditional Authorities: The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and Museveni's Regime.”“After civil wars: The process of consolidating peace in Uganda”

Moderator and Commentator:

Dr. Daniel Koss, Associate Senior Lecturer on East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University. His publication includes “Where the Party Rules: The Rank and File of China's Communist State” (Cambridge University Press, 2018).

The event will be hosted by the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilization, Harvard University. It will be co-hosted by the Ukraine Research Institute at Harvard University, Harvard University Center for African Studies, Sophia Institute of International Relations (SIIR), Sophia Institute for Human Security.
