Nomsa has over 16 years of experience in the railway market sector in South Africa. She is a registered engineer by profession and currently serves as part of the executive management structure at the Gautrain Management Agency. The purpose of the Gautrain Management Agency is to transform space, people and the economy through mobility. Nomsa occupies the role of Senior Executive Manager: Technical Services at an acting capacity; and oversees maintenance of Gautrain System assets in her official role of Executive Manager: Asset and Maintenance Assurance.

In her acting capacity as a Senior Executive Manager for Technical Services, she leads a team of three: two Executive Managers and one Senior Manager who oversee Operations; Transport Integration, and SHEQ respectively. The fourth reporting line under this role is her official role of Executive Manager for Asset and Maintenance Assurance. In this role she leads a team of five Senior Engineering Managers and one Specialist in the various disciplines of Railway Systems Engineering and Mobility Services.

She has previously worked for AECOM as a Senior Engineer in the Railway Practice Area, Transnet Group Capital as a Senior Project Manager, Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa as a Regional Perway Engineer and Transnet Freight Rail as a Junior Engineer. She holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering (Project Management) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and is an active member of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

Nomsa’s goals and aspirations:

  1. To maximise and realise her full potential in every aspect of her life.
  2. To develop herself as a leader while coaching and mentoring other leaders.
  3. To have a significant contribution in the economic development of South Africa.

Nomsa’s noteworthy achievements to date:

  1. Assuming the role of Senior Executive Manager: Technical Services
  2. Being a recipient of the Harvard South Africa Fellowship Program Scholarship award
  3. Starting a family – Nomsa sees this as a greatest calling in her life.

Nomsa enjoys time spent with family and friends; she loves the outdoors and travelling. As someone with a reflective personality she enjoys spending time alone at times. Nomsa takes pride in all that she do, her motto in life: “whatever your hands find to do; do it with all your might…”
