Mahashane Anneline Shabangu-Myakayaka is a seasoned legal professional with over 15 years of experience, currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel for Global and Strategic Projects at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. In this role, she places a strong focus on translating complex regulations into actionable strategies that enhance business efficiency and growth. As a business-focused lawyer, Mahashane is skilled in interpreting laws, regulations, and risks to develop practical risk frameworks that support strategic decision-making and drive business success across key markets, including the EU, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Americas.

Mahashane specialises in corporate, commercial, property, mining, and competition law, with a strong emphasis on corporate governance. Her extensive experience includes serving as Head of Legal and Compliance for Sandvik Africa, Legal Counsel for Philips Africa, and Legal and Corporate Affairs Associate at Japan Tobacco International, where she was based in the EU and contributed to managing stakeholder relations and regulatory compliance across the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

She holds an LLB from the University of Witwatersrand, an LLM in Corporate, Commercial, and Competition Law from the University of Pretoria, and an MBA from Wits Business School, where she was recognised on the Dean’s Merit List for being in the top 10% of her class.

An admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, Mahashane is passionate about empowering young legal professionals across the African continent and is dedicated to making high-quality legal services accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) throughout Africa. Her commitment to excellence and leadership has earned her accolades, including being named one of Mail &amp; Guardian's Top 200 Young South Africans in 2021.
