Kazuki is a specially-appointed Assistant Professor of the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies at Kyoto University. He is a historical anthropologist specializing in northern Kenya, with MA (2012) and PhD (2018) from Kyoto University. He has been consistently interested in the human-animal relationship in this area: His doctoral thesis was about how the relationship was subject to continual readjustments in keeping with national political circumstances, technological progress, and the imperial agenda. During his stay at HYI, he will work on the global effort to control rinderpest in colonial and post-colonial northern Kenya, especially focusing on the scientific network with Asian countries.
