Hema Narang is a doctoral candidate at the Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her M.Phil dissertation was titled “Mapping Chinese and Indian Political and Economic Footprints in Africa: 2000-2013” where she delineated broad contours of the Chinese and Indian engagements in Africa. She pursued her undergraduate in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and her Masters in International Relations from JNU. She has also worked as a Legislative Assistant for Member of Parliament(s) and is passionate about China-India comparative studies. Pursuing her further studies in similar area of research, the central thrust of her doctoral research is about the growing soft power capabilities of China and India in Africa. She has published research articles in different journals and presented papers at conferences. She also visited China (Beijing and Shanghai) as a part of her field trip in June 2018 and visited Lhasa, Tibet as a part of the Indian Youth Delegation in October 2018.
