Bavesh holds his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Bavesh completed his articles of clerkship at Bowman Gilfillan Inc. (now known as “Bowmans”) and was thereafter promoted to an Associate in 2011 and then Senior Associate in 2013. In December 2016, Bavesh left Bowmans to accept a position as a Senior Associate at the Johannesburg office of Pinsent Masons but arranged with the firm to leave in July 2017 so as to pursue his LLM studies at Harvard Law School.
In over six years of post-articles experience, Bavesh served as a valued attorney and team member with particular expertise in drafting, negotiating and resolving disputes on construction and commercial agreements. He has advised various role players on a broad range of projects including energy, industrial plants, transport and commercial property.
Apart from contract, construction and infrastructure law, Bavesh has a special interest in global law, constitutional law, social justice and jurisprudence, which has informed his studies during his time at Harvard.
