DESCRIPTION:
	<drupal-media data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="ad57c6db-3c5b-4350-a0d7-aa08afca0f71" alt="Webinar Poster" data-view-mode="hwp_medium"></drupal-media>

December 2nd - The Impact on Women

Women have been disproportionately impacted by the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare and the economy. Facing the dual burden of an economic crisis and a healthcare crisis, women face increased expectations and demands as caregivers, diminished wages from government-imposed lockdown measures, and threats of gender-based violence. Women likewise are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, from serving in roles as community health workers to contact tracers to leading government and regional response efforts. The panel will explore the impact of COVID-19 on women and the societal and government response.

	Register for the webinar: https://harvard.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Cy_a3e4tR1KuEjK6TDUm4g

This webinar will be livestreamed on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/HarvardAfricanStudies/live_videos/

	Speakers:

Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, UN Women

Dr. Marleen Temmerman, Head of the Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health, Aga Khan University

Ms. Kosi Antwiwaa Yankey-Ayeh, Executive Director, National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI)

Moderated by Professor Zoe Marks, Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School

	--

The Harvard University Center for African Studies in partnership with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is hosting a series of webinars on the topic of COVID-19 and Africa.
