DESCRIPTION:<a href="internal:/wp-content/uploads/Roos.jpg"><img class=" wp-image-8823" src="http://africa.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/Roos-300x200.jpg" alt="Neil Roos" width="270" height="180"></a><p class="p1">Neil Roos is a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University as well as an Associate Professor of History at University of the Free State. Roos will be presenting "Work and Ideology in the Apartheid Civil Service, 1948‐1961: the Public Service Commission and the rule of regulation.” The Discussant will be Pauline Peters, Faculty Fellow at the Center for International Development and Fellow at the Hutchins Center.</p><p class="p1">A week in advance, the presenter’s paper will be circulated through the <a href="https://lists.fas.harvard.edu/mailman/listinfo/africaworkshop-list"><span class="s3">Harvard African Studies Workshop listserv.</span></a><span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>It is assumed that everyone has read the paper before the workshop.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>After presentation and commentary, Workshop attendees are invited to engage in critique and discussion, under the moderation of the Workshop Chair.</p>
