Prior to joining the Commission, Alex practiced law as a corporate mergers and acquisitions Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright and served as a Law Research Clerk to Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng at the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Alex was selected as a Center for African Studies' Harvard South Africa Fellow for the 2016 -2017 academic year to undertake a Masters of Law at Harvard Law School. During her masters, Alex co-founded and was co-President of the Human Rights and Business Students Association and also served as the LLM representative of the Black Law Students Association. Upon completion of her masters, Alex was awarded a Dean's Scholar Prize for her academic performance and honors for her dissertation on environmental racism in the context of mining.
