February 12, 2025

Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 cohort of our MA program! Cal State LA is proud to have the nation’s second-oldest department of Pan-African/Black Studies and to be the first in the California State University system to offer a Master’s Degree. In addition, the PAS Department is part of the College of Ethnic Studies—one of only two such colleges in the country.

We welcome students eager to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to deepen their understanding of the lives of African peoples worldwide. Students can apply online at [https://www.calstate.edu/apply](https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.calstate.edu_apply&d=DwMGaQ&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=0JedsBrTOxfiptjnJbpOnrBT0dwfdeiuN99utuT6MUg&m=Lor-W1AQiVpKysXQnKg35s5aJrbfMM9f9yHg-PUI2WrWAHyhVJpBRobK9CrQOl6q&s=guvDrUU6ujIuCtq_2ydMPIH3x1nuhw1uU7W2oZ5LC-8&e=) **until March 15, 2025**. Our 30-unit Master of Arts program utilizes a cohort model that fosters a strong sense of community and support among students. A key objective of our graduate program is to address the growing national and statewide demand for an M.A. in Pan-African Studies that effectively integrates scholarship and theory with practical application and social activism.

Join one of the two informational sessions for the MA program on Thursday, February 13th, and Thursday, February 20th, at 5 p.m. (PST) via Zoom: [https://calstatela.zoom.us/j/81502873351](https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__calstatela.zoom.us_j_81502873351&d=DwMGaQ&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=0JedsBrTOxfiptjnJbpOnrBT0dwfdeiuN99utuT6MUg&m=Lor-W1AQiVpKysXQnKg35s5aJrbfMM9f9yHg-PUI2WrWAHyhVJpBRobK9CrQOl6q&s=qyJUKXF7y7o8_i81XJmWabx9vXGfIObiooulf5-zffk&e=).
