It is with great enthusiasm that we share this year’s Harvard Africa Policy Journal (APJ) Editorial Team:

Africa Policy Journal Editorial Team

The Harvard Africa Policy Journal is a student-run, online publication dedicated to promoting dialogue about African policy and current affairs in the realms of governance, law, education, business, health, design, and culture. The Journal, initially started in 2006, had been focused on the Harvard Kennedy School of Government but has recently expanded to encompass all the schools of Harvard University. With its new online platform and annual publications, the APJ will act as a hub for timely debate, opinion, research, and analysis. Some of the journal’s recent interviews include:

Chime Asonye, a lawyer and founder of the online community, Nigerian Mental Health, and Hauwa Ojeifo, founder of She Writes Woman, an organization supporting mental health awareness in Nigeria shares an article on The Silent Pandemic: Legislative Reforms to Protect Nigerian Minds During COVID-19. During a recent interview, Dr. Celestin Monga (currently a visiting professor at the Harvard Kennedy School and faculty affiliate of the Center for African Studies) answered questions from APJ’s Lead Interview Editor, Brice Ngameni. Dr. Monga discussed development prospects on the African continent and shed light on the voluntarist development framework he advocates New Structural Economics. Watch here.

According to this seasoned development practitioner, "the problem [on the African continent] is not [a] shortage of funding but [a] lack of good [investment] ideas."

Interview with Ambassador Nureldin Satti, Sudan's Ambassador to the United States (the first ambassador in more than 20 years).

The Ambassador’s conversation with Abosede Alimi (APJ Interview Editor) navigated the history of Sudan-US relations post historical changes in Sudan and how the establishment of relations affects Sudanese internal politics. The Ambassador also shared his insights on Sudan’s regional and international affairs. Watch here.

As the only student journal in America dedicated exclusively to African policy issues, APJ seeks to publish thought-provoking content that provides fresh insight into the most significant opportunities and challenges facing African nations and their peoples today. Interested authors can submit pieces on any of the following topics: politics and governance; development issues and trends; business, finance and economics; social issues including human rights; public health; science and technology; and African culture and policy.

The Africa Policy Journal at the Harvard Kennedy School invites established and emerging writers, including policymakers, businesspeople, lawyers, journalists, artists, researchers, academics, and others to submit their work for our 2021-2022 publication cycle.
