The Fellows Program is at the heart of the activities of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. Since 1975, the Institute has annually appointed scholars who conduct individual research for a period of one to two semesters in a wide variety of fields related to African and African American Studies.
CID has immediate openings for Pre (PhD students) or Postdoctoral Fellows who are interested in conducting interdisciplinary research in the area of economic development, growth, macroeconomics and trade as part of The Growth Lab. The Growth Lab is an academic research program run out of CID that consists of a dynamic group of researchers working to understand economic growth and structural change, how the specificities of human capital informs diversification of individuals, firms & regions, and how it relates to economic growth. The Growth Lab is also involved in applying its research in active policy engagements
The Wits Institute for Social & Economic Research (WiSER) is housed at the University of the Witwatersrand, in response to the acute need for incisive, high-calibre social science research than Africa. Each year, WiSER offers 2-3 year doctoral fellowships. Download information here.
