Sponsored by WARA and the African Studies Center, the Religion in West Africa Lecture Series continues in 2017 with Robert M Baum, author of "West Africa's Women of God". His book examines the history of direct revelation from Emitai, the Supreme Being, which has been central to the Diola religion from before European colonization to the present day. His talk will interest students and scholars of history, religion, and gender studies as he discusses the role of women in West African religious communities.
