AfricaGSD is pleased to host Tahir Carl Karmali in conversation with Jesse Firestone.

Tahir Carl Karmali is a Kenyan-born, New York-based visual artist whose work deals with critiquing the global economy, geopolitics and the networks that circulate goods and people. He works across mediums and combines photography, photocopying, collage, textile, paper making, installation and sculpture in his practice. In May, his specially commissioned piece The Lotus he will be part of the The Shed's inaugural Open Call.

Jesse Firestone is an independent curator base in New York. His practice "utilises art as a generative field fuelled by meditation, catharsis, alchemy, and action outside the market." He is currently Open Call Assistant at The Shed, Biennial Advisor at BRIC and is undertaking an MA in Curatorial Arts at the School of Visual Arts, New York. This event is made possible by the generous support of the Centre for African Studies at Harvard University.
