The webinar will focus on the significance and contribution of groundwater to water security in terms of domestic supply for drinking and sanitation, agricultural and industrial productions as well as ecosystem services in Africa.

Expert presentations and discussions will feature the need for sustainable development, utilization and management of groundwater resources and aim to make a case for raising the profile of groundwater at the highest level of governance and political agenda in Africa for the overall socio-economic development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The webinar will have keynote speakers and panel discussions among groundwater experts including private sector, CSOs and academic or research institutions both within and outside Africa.

The aim is to raise the voices and enlighten relevant stakeholders about:

· the significance of groundwater and its values in terms of social, cultural, economic, and environmental dimensions,

· the need to ensure its sustainable development for the benefits of livelihoods in Africa, and;

· the need for the relevant decision makers to take cognizance of the vital roles of groundwater in IWRM and Transboundary Aquifer Management.

The webinar will last 2 hours.
