Restoring Constitutional Authority in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Advocates for Human Rights and the Harvard African Law Association are pleased to announce “Restoring Constitutional Authority in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” a discussion between Rudy Massamba, Central Africa expert at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and Ruth Osaretin Ogbewekon (LLM Class of 2018). The event will cover the significance of a democratic transition of power for the Congolese people, the international community’s motivations (or lack of motivations) for supporting democracy in the DRC, and issues related to lack of respect for the rule of law. The event will additionally include analysis of the role of Congolese civil society in consolidating the country’s democratic transition, and NED’s role in supporting Congolese civil society. The last 15 minutes of the event will be reserved for questions from the audience. Lunch will be served.
