Are Social Distancing Measures Appropriate for Curbing Covid-19 in Africa?

In an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19, varying degrees of lockdowns and social distancing measures have gone into effect across the African continent. But with these restrictions in place, vulnerable communities are facing another set of risks that challenge their livelihoods. In this debate, CSIS will pose the question, **“Are social distancing measures appropriate for curbing Covid-19's spread in Africa?”** Experts will face off to discuss the tradeoffs between public health measures and livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa.
