 Speaker: Dr. Jamie Monson

 Jamie Monson is the Director of the African Studies Center, Co-Director of the Alliance for African Partnership, and a professor of History at Michigan State. Her background is deeply rooted in East African environmental history and the relationship between development, resource use, and landscape change in East African environmental history and the relationship between development, resource use, and landscape change in Africa. A pioneer in the study of Africa- China relations, she is the author of Africa’s Freedom Railway: How a Chinese Development Project Changed Lives and Livelihoods in Tanzania (2011).
