Contagion: Exploring Modern Epidemics

Date:

Friday, October 27, 2017, 9:00am to 6:00pm

Location:

Knafel Center 10 Garden Street Cambridge, MA 02138

Epidemic disease spreads quickly in our interconnected, globalized world. Join the Radcliffe Institute Science Symposium for a symposium looking at new ways of tracking epidemics using big data and social networks to predict and stem the rise of emergent diseases.

Epidemiologists, journalists, physicians, public officials, scientists, and sociologists will discuss their cutting-edge research, prediction mechanisms, and possible solutions to the range of epidemics that face our world today—from Ebola and SARS to the more recently recognized social epidemics of the opioid crisis and gun violence.

This forum is part of Worldwide Week at Harvard, which celebrates and showcases Harvard’s global presence and educational opportunities that extend beyond the Cambridge and Boston campuses.
