July 8th - Future of Africa’s Health Systems

Updated July 8th Poster

We invite you to join us for our last Africa & COVID-19 webinar of the season. We will continue the series in September. This webinar will focus on the Future of Africa’s Health Systems.

We will ask panelists to explore the impact of COVID-19 on Africa’s health systems through several lenses: i) what has been the impact of COVID-19 and other major infectious diseases on Africa’s health systems?; ii) what are the successful approaches for maintaining focus on other major health challenges during this global pandemic?; and iii) how will the response to COVID-19 affect, and even possibly strengthen, health systems to serve other diseases? Our hope is that this panel can begin to identify the trends and longlasting impacts that we predict COVID-19 will have on Africa’s health systems.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Professor Wafaa El-Sadr, University Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine at Columbia University
  • Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control
  • Dr. Sandile Buthelezi, Director-General, National Department of Health, South Africa
  • Dr. John Nkengasong, Director, Africa CDC
  • Moderated by Professor Margaret Kruk, Professor of Health Systems, Department of Global Health and Population, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
