December 2nd - The Impact on Women

Women have been disproportionately impacted by the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare and the economy. Facing the dual burden of an economic crisis and a healthcare crisis, women face increased expectations and demands as caregivers, diminished wages from government-imposed lockdown measures, and threats of gender-based violence. Women likewise are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, from serving in roles as community health workers to contact tracers to leading government and regional response efforts. The panel will explore the impact of COVID-19 on women and the societal and government response.
