The Africa Business Conference originated from a need to create a forum to highlight what it means to be African, understand what it takes to do business in Africa and also push for Africa’s continued rise to prosperity. Our conference is the world’s largest student-run event focused on business in Africa. It brings together over 1,300 participants from around the globe and provides exceptional networking opportunities for business and community leaders, entrepreneurs, students, and individuals keen to engage in business affairs pertinent to Africa.

This year, the conference theme is *Charting a Path Through Uncertainty*. In the past year, our continent has faced a range of challenges from COVID-19, to issues around police brutality and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Despite the challenges, the African Continental Free Trade Area was launched with an aim to bring together 1.3 billion people in a $3.4 trillion economic bloc. This milestone and the prospects of moderate economic growth and projected rise in investments sparks hope.

Year on year, the conference weekend has been the highlight of ABC club activities. We usually spend the fall planning and eagerly anticipating the day we welcome you all to campus. However, given COVID-19, and its impact on our day to day lives, we have had to reimagine this year’s Africa Business Conference.

Though we have adjusted some aspects of the conference, our core aims remain unchanged. The conference will still provide participants with the opportunity to hear from inspiring leaders with a passion for our continent. We will hear from our keynote speakers Mr. Amadou Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League and President Benedict Oramah, President of the African Export - Import Bank. Through the New Venture Competition, we shall also provide the space to highlight and fund promising African start-ups.

Leaders, such as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, have opined that this pandemic may present an opportunity for Africa to “…reimagine and rethink itself”. We welcome you to take this conference as an opportunity to reimagine with us.
