Summer Grants for Graduates and Undergraduates
CAS Undergraduate Summer Grants
The Committee on African Studies offers funding to Harvard undergraduate students traveling to Africa for thesis research, internships or study abroad. Grants require a minimum stay of six weeks in Africa. Our grant awards are limited and intended to cover round-trip travel and a modest stipend.
Applications for 2012 CAS Undergraduate Summer Grants are due by 3:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2012. Applications are due to the CAS office in CGIS South, Room 403. Applications received after the 3pm deadline or missing any component of the application will not be considered.
You will need to turn in one set of the items listed below. These documents should be turned in the order they are listed with no staples.
1. Completed CARAT application form at https://asperin.fas.harvard.edu/carat
2. 750 word proposal
3. Unofficial transcript copy
4. Current resume
5. Itinerary
6. Two letters of reference
7. Letter of Support from Sponsoring Organization (Only if applying for internship)

Summer FLAS Fellowships are available for intensive language study only, and are open to both graduate and undergraduate students.
