African Studies Workshop Featuring Nancy Rose Hunt

Nancy Rose Hunt, Professor of History & African Studies at the University of Florida since 2016, is undertaking new research on psychiatry and mental health in Africa, with a focus on diagnostic categories and care in zones of war, migratory politics, and securitization.  She will present on Veins of Madness in a Turbulent Congolese Border City. Discussant: Byron Good (Harvard University).

A week in advance, the presenter’s paper and call-in information will be circulated through the Harvard African Studies Workshop listserv. It is assumed that everyone has read the paper before the workshop.  After presentation and commentary, Workshop attendees are invited to engage in critique and discussion, under the moderation of the Workshop Chairs.
